Kids and Quizzing

The kids are doing great in school. Mason's grades have really improved since we started working on quizzing. Its funny how you think one child will do better and then they shock you. Mason can spit out his verses and correct his sister it is so funny. Madison on the other hand is not showing much interest. I have to make her work on her verses. I think she could do really great at this, but she is not seeing that its time now to learn. She thinks she can wait until we start practicing at church. Well I am sure Sis. Christina will get ahold of her. I have been very busy with my classes and my new teaching position. Sorry the blog has been lacking :( Hope you are all having a blessed day. Keep our kids in your prayers as they put the word of God in their hearts.

silly girl with wild hair and stopping to smell the flowers!

Yummy Mickey Mouse ice cream!!!!

Sue is a very dear friend of the family. She was one of Granny's very best friends. She loves the kids so much and is always checking on us. She just loves to see pictures of the kids so these pictures are for her....and anyone else who wants to enjoy them. Sue reminds us a lot of our Granny that we miss alot. The kids think she is special because she is like their Granny. They miss their Granny and will never forget her....But I am glad they have really big hearts and have learned to love other ladies in the church that treat them like grand kids. It must be fun to be grandma. Hope you enjoy a few random pics. We love you granma Sue!

What a life!

Dogs life .....What a life laid out with nothing to do! This is Daisy our westie we adopted back in Feburary. She is a cutie and has gotten used to being spoiled rotten just like Molly. They really are good dogs. They play together and rough house, it is really funny to watch. Todd and I looked down last night and saw her laid out sound asleep. She didn't flinch until we made her move. What a life.

They still know it!

Yes I know it is still early and it is only one verse...a really long verse....but this morning when I woke the kids up I asked them to quote Luke 4:16. And they both did with out much hesitation. Mason hurried around to get ready so he could READ over his next verse. It had a few hard words in it but he barreled through it with out any whining I can't read this. I dropped Mason off at his class door and walked Madison to her class. Madison's teachers said she could read over her verses anytime she was finished with her work. She is always reading!!! She has read 2 chapter books in just the last 3 days. Her homeroom teacher said she could have a friend test her if they were finished with all their work. Wow we are bringing God's word into the school system!!! After I left Madison I dropped back bye Mason's room. His teacher met me at the door. She said Mason came in so excited this morning. He is already finished with his morning Reading worksheet. How What did we do to change his attitude?????? I told her that I had told him that if his teacher would let him....when he was finished with all his work....he could work on his quizzing memorization. But that he could not disrupt the class. He would just need to read over his verses to himself. She said he is able to do this at anytime and we pulled him out in the hall and talked about it with his teacher. He quoted his 1st verse to her. She stated WOW this could really build his self confidence and totally change his study skills. HMMMM where have I heard this before. I told her that bible quizzing is very important but that he knows if he is not getting his school work done he can't be involved. His teacher was amazed. I will leave this post with one last thought. Mason was singing in the shower this morning. At 1st i thought it was just cute and sweet, but after this mornings events unfolded all I can say is wow! Oh the song...... This little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine, Let it Shine let it shine.....Thanks Sis. Carmen for teaching our children this song with the extra verse.....All over Wichita Falls I'm gonna let it SHINE!!! Keep these children (all the quizzers) in your prayers that their minds just soak this up and that God uses them to be a witness to their friends and teachers in their CITY!

Yes he did.....

Yes he did...I came home to sleeping children and a smell. What is that smell??? No He didn't....Oh Yes he did. That smell was burnt cookies. I had left him a timer to check on and he forgot. I all can say is he burnt the cookies I left for him. Oh well Tonight we had such a wonderful time at the Ladies of life party. I even got a great video of Ondrea doing a little JIG! But I will be kind and respect her and not blog it...But I will keep it for bribery.

Wow! immediate response!!!

Last night Bro. & Sis Isom presented their burden of Bible quizzing to the parents. The kids are getting so excited. They begged today "where are our quiz cards???" Can we get started. Of course I don't have the cards yet so I printed a few verses off the computer. They started with Luke 4:16. There were a few hard words in there Nazareth and synagogue. What was fun is that the kids have 20 min of reading for school every night and tonight they begged to do their bible reading for this time. I was not sure about Mason, He is not a strong reader. Madison started the reading and then Mason followed along. Wow they really were helping one another. Mason usually gets flustered with his reading and gives up......but not today!!! He kept trying over and over and over. And they both were encouraging one another. I knew we had been told it helps the kids in so many ways, but I never expected the attitude change immediately. And I mean immediately. Mason had not had a great day today, he got behind on his school work and was very upset about it. This usually sets him into a mood of I don't want to do anything or TOTAL SHUT DOWN. The kids spent their time learning Gods word during their reading time. I am going to talk to their teachers and let them know that they are using some of their reading time to learn their quiz material. Keep us in your prayers that the kids will continue to be excited about the word of the Lord. And that their minds and hearts will soak up the words. And that the kids can use this as a witness to their friends and teachers at school. I end with tonight I am one happy mom!!!

Another great week!

This morning starts the 3rd week of school. It will be the 1st full week of school. The kids are still excited. The kids love for me to walk them into the building and I love it also. I am happy to report that Madison hugs her brother goodbye every morning. I am so glad they are close. They are not perfect by no means, but they love one another. They play well together and yes they often aggravate one another. Madison hugged me this morning while standing at her brothers class door. I thought ok now she will take off down the hall and go on her own class like other days. NOPE I felt a little hand slip into mine and then a little tug. I looked down and she whispered come on mom walk me to class today!!! You bet I walked down that hall beaming my little BIG third grader was letting me walk her to class. Boy it brought back memories of kindergarten. I guess the meaning behind today's post is to remind you to take every day one day at a time. Take in the simple things in life. Enjoy the slow passed walk down the hall making memories that will last a lifetime. Who knows tomorrow may come and she doesn't want me to walk her to class. Take advantage of everyday try to let your loved ones know what they mean to you. Even in the simplest way it will bring a smile to their face, and draw you just a little closer together.

Been busy!

I have been busy this week getting going on my 2 college classes. I have enjoyed a pretty relaxing week. Labor day we went to Six Flags with Curt, Julie, Dena and the kids. We had alot of fun. I have done a little cleaning around the house. But mostly lots of reading and then more reading of my college books. I have been helping at the church getting ready for Amber's wedding. We have had alot of fun. I have taken a few pictures but I must wait and not spoil the surprise. I will share pictures Saturday hopefully. I did enjoy a wonderful visit with a new friend this week. Her daughter is in class with Mason. We got to visiting at the school and then i invited her to the house for coffee. We talked for nearly 3 hours about kids and people WE Both KNOW and CHURCH....LOTS OF CHURCH! I am really excited about the doors the Lord is opening. It all started because Mason has been inviting his classmates to extreme Sunday School. He has no idea what it is going to be like, but he is soooo pumped. Also he gets to tell his friends Bro. (Mr.) Joseph at school is his teacher. The kids really love having him pop in and out of their classes. They also see Sis Gaitain at school and they talk about spanish church. I love that the kids are so excited about all the happenings at church! We go Monday to find out all the details about Bible Quizzing with the Isoms. The kids are so excited. Mason was so cute Wednesday night (knowing Bro. Green was coming) he was quoting a few verses and making sure they were correct. He wanted to be ready to quote something if Bro. Green asked. God is so Good I can't wait to see what else he has instore for us!
